Alma Mathley has 20+ years experience in Title Insurance Sales and Marketing and obtained her license as a Resident Producer for Title Insurance in 1996.
Alma joined the Vanguard Title Insurance Agency team in 2006 – bringing her high level of knowledge, vast experience and energetic enthusiasm with her. Alma prides herself on exceptional customer service. She goes above and beyond to ensure her clients have a great experience from beginning to end and are kept informed throughout the process.
A true dedicated professional, Alma possesses the skills, knowledge and talent needed to meet the ever-changing challenges of the title insurance industry.
Bob is a seasoned professional with nearly 40 years of sales and service experience.
After graduating from Michigan State University, Bob began his career in industrial sales, then moved on to the environmental contracting and consulting arena. In 2002, Bob took a position with a Detroit area community bank as Assistant Vice President in loan origination.
After 10 years in the lending industry, Bob moved on to Vanguard Title where he works today as an Account Executive and mortgage loan closer. Bob lives in Macomb Township, Michigan with his wife of 30 years.
Chris graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 1991 with a bachelor’s degree in Public Law and Government.
Chris law clerked in Ann Arbor, Michigan and had a brief career in law enforcement. From 1995 to 2004, he served first as manager and then as vice president of sales and marketing at A.S.K. Services, Inc.—a Michigan-based public record research company.
Chris has lectured on public records research at the University of Michigan. He has held industry leadership positions. Chris has served as board member and treasurer of both the National Public Record Research Association and the Michigan Council of Professional Investigators.
Chris spent a decade establishing an excellent reputation and network of contacts in lending and real estate. Then he began consulting directly for his title insurance clients.
He ultimately accepted a position at a new agency formed by his former clients at First American Title. Today Chris serves as Vice President of New Business Development at Vanguard Title, and manages its key account relationships and strategic growth.
Chris owns properties throughout Wayne and Oakland Counties. He grew up in Plymouth and now resides in Westland with his wife Christine and twin boys John and Greyson.
Chris is a commercially rated airplane, seaplane and glider pilot, and an officer in the Civil Air Patrol/United States Air Force Auxiliary, who flies out of his home base at Plymouth Mettetal Airport (1D2).
Jo-Ann Black has worked in the title industry since 1996.
As a graduate from Bryant and Stratton Business Institute, claims secretary for State Farm Ins., legal secretary and realtor, her well rounded background brings knowledge and perspective to the job today and enables her to better serve customers.
Professionalism and experience make her an invaluable asset to Vanguard Title and its customers.
Over the last 25 years Tammy has acquired a strong background in mortgage, title insurance, marketing, sales, fundraising, event planning and executive personal assistant roles.
She has exceptional communication, time management and networking abilities. Tammy is passionate and has a heartfelt drive to serve her clients’ best interests. She is dedicated, knowledgeable, and committed to her clientele.
Tammy is assertive and effective without being too aggressive. Tammy values relationships over transactions, and much of her business comes from repeat clients or referrals.
She enjoys spending time with her family and friends and giving back to her community by volunteering and getting involved in local charities.
Alisha joined the Vanguard team bringing years of experience in title. She began her career in the title industry in 2003 as a receptionist, eventually working her way into pre-processing and statusing title files. She then moved into processing purchase and closing transactions with roles as both a processor and closer.
She has a passion for the industry but loves being able to interact with customers outside of the office. She found her love for sales and began establishing a credible clientele by building friendships and relationships with others in the industry. She now have over 6 years of experiences in sales.
Diana Press is our Operations Manager and boasts a resume spanning 15 years in the Title Insurance industry.
Since starting as a receptionist, she moved on to processing and closing in escrow before her current management position, gaining valuable knowledge in sales and service along the way. She believes this “bottom up” career path has reinforced her priority to consistently deliver the best customer service possible to all of Vanguard’s clients through all phases of the closing process.
Diana is married with three children and has lived in Sterling Heights for 30 years.
Chris Kass, President, brings a wealth of direct sales and sales management experience from a variety of respected title insurance organizations in Michigan.
Vanguard is fortunate to have someone of Chris Kass’ caliber and experience step up to lead the company. We are excited for her renewed leadership to successfully implement our strategy and take advantage of the market opportunities ahead. Chris knows our marketplace better than anyone, and has a proven track record of execution. She is a strong communicator who is customer focused with deep leadership capabilities. Furthermore, Chris has shown an ability to work across functional groups, innovate new products, and most importantly, raise the talents of her teams.
John Apostol serves as General Counsel to Vanguard Title.
He obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and his Juris Doctorate from the University of Detroit Law School, with a concentration in real estate law.
Before working at Vanguard Title, Apostol joined North American Title and founding partners, Richard Parsons and Michael Strat in 1988 as Chief Operations Officer. When North American Title merged with First American Title in 2000, Apostol became the Southeast Michigan Division’s COO and General Counsel.
At First American, Apostol helped forge a new, vibrant business atmosphere that returned focus to the needs of existing and new clients that migrated to First American.
In 2005, Apostol and the North American Title founding partners, Rick Parsons and Mike Strat, along with First American Title colleague Robert Considine united to establish Vanguard Title.
Michael Strat oversees Vanguard Title’s strategic and financial planning as well as process development.
Prior to the establishment of Vanguard Title, Strat co-founded North American Title with Richard Parsons in 1987 and was joined one year later by John Apostol. The three-man operation rapidly grew to a 100-employee enterprise in less than five years through the success of newly developed and more efficient title processing systems.
In 2000, North American Title merged with First American, and Strat became the new entity’s President of the Southeast Michigan Division. During his first four years at First American, he oversaw the team responsible for overhauling First American’s systems, processes and customer service. Additionally, he aided in increasing the company’s volume from 2,000 orders per month to more than 10,000.
In 2005, Strat and the North American Title founding partners, Rick Parsons and John Apostol, along with First American Title colleague Robert Considine united to establish Vanguard Title.
Parsons oversees Vanguard Title’s strategic development process and has nearly 20 years of experience in the residential real estate industry.
Before co-founding North American Title with Michael Strat in 1987, Parsons built his expertise from a small local title insurance agency. Later joined by John Apostol, the three were determined to streamline procedures in the title process to serve their clientele more efficiently.
For the next decade, North American Title navigated through the hectic business cycle of interest-rate driven refinance booms while growing an impressive customer base that appreciated their responsive, proactive approach to customer service.
In 2000, North American Title merged with First American Title, and Parsons became the new entity’s Vice President and Southeast Michigan Division Co-Manager. This new management team succeeded in driving new systems-based efficiency – increasing productivity from 24 orders per person per month to 66 orders per person per month.
In 2005, along with original business partners Mike Strat and John Apostol, in addition to colleague Robert Considine, Parsons helped establish Vanguard Title.
Robert Considine manages the Vanguard Title’s operations as well as administrative, facilities and human resources functions.
Considine holds a Master of Arts degree in Industrial Relations from Wayne State University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Michigan, and a certification in Senior Professional Human Resources.
Prior to joining the Vanguard Title team, Considine worked at North American Title as the firm’s Human Resources Manager. In this position, he helped transition this one-time small partnership into a robust title organization with nearly 100 employees in less than two years.
From 2000 to 2004, Considine worked with the team responsible for overhauling First American’s systems, processes and customer service expectations. In 2005, he joined forces with former First American colleagues and North American founders Mike Strat, Rick Parsons, and John Apostol to establish Vanguard Title.
